Auto Theft in Canada
- What you can do to Minimize your Risk

  • Always lock the doors on your vehicle.

  • Do not leave your vehicle unattended with the keys in the ignition.

  • Do not store a spare set of keys in your vehicle.

  • While at home, store keys out of sight.  While out in public, do not leave your jacket pockets or purses unattended.

  • When not in vehicle, keep all windows closed.

  • Park in well lit and high traffic areas; thieves look for vehicles that are located in discreet locations.

  • Keep your garage door remote out of sight.

  • Install a vehicle alarm.

  • Use a steering wheel locking device; they are a good visual deterrent for auto thieves.

  • Install an electronic immobilizer.
